Before Your Appointment

Preparing bespoke womenswear
for an important occasion

A bespoke commission need not begin with a fixed sketch. First understand where you will be, the role you will hold and how you would like to be seen; then design, measurement and fitting have a clear purpose.

For an important occasion,
begin with four things

For an important occasion, begin with four things: the setting, your role, the date and the feeling you would like to convey. A business setting, celebration, ceremony or another significant moment each asks for a different degree of presence and ease.

There is no need to begin with a fixed sketch. Neckline, fabric and specific style are clarified through your body, wearing habits and the needs of the occasion during the consultation.

Plan backwards from
the occasion date

When a date is known, begin with a consultation and confirm the overall rhythm according to the design, fabric and fitting. The current process usually follows:

  • Appointment and measurement: Discussing the design direction and taking measurements take approximately 1.5 hours.
  • Fitting: Usually scheduled around 15–20 days after the initial appointment.
  • Final delivery: Usually completed around 20–30 days after the fitting.

Timing varies with the design, fabric and fitting refinements. The final schedule is confirmed after the appointment.

You do not need to choose
a style before you arrive

The date and context of the occasion, together with the feeling you would like to convey, are the most useful starting points. Preferred images, garments you wear often but do not feel fully right in, or existing dressing concerns can also be helpful.

You do not need prior knowledge of fabric, cut, craftsmanship or pattern making. The purpose of the consultation is to establish an appropriate design direction and next steps from a full understanding of your needs.

A fitting confirms
the reality of wearing

A fitting confirms proportion, structure, ease of movement, comfort, line and the overall wearing result. It brings the piece into the reality of a body in motion, rather than considering the garment only as an image.

Further refinements follow from the experience of wearing it, so the final piece better serves your body, occasion and way of moving through the day.

Bespoke or selected
made-to-measure suits

For a commission developed through the full design, measurement and fitting process, choose bespoke womenswear. If you prefer adjustments to individual measurements within a specified style, ask about selected made-to-measure suits and their available details at the appointment.

Public price guidance and the full process are set out in bespoke process, timeline and pricing.

Questions before an appointment

Do I need to decide on a style before a bespoke appointment?

No. The first consultation clarifies the occasion, timing, role, body and the feeling you would like to convey. The design direction is developed through the conversation.

How should I plan time for bespoke womenswear for an important occasion?

Begin by booking a consultation from the date you need to wear the piece. A LADIAQUA fitting is usually scheduled around 15–20 days after the initial appointment, with final delivery usually around 20–30 days after the fitting. The final schedule depends on the design, fabric and fitting refinements.

What can I bring to a first appointment?

Bring the date and context of the occasion, the feeling you would like to convey, any preferred images and any existing dressing concerns. No prior knowledge of fabric, pattern or craftsmanship is needed.
